Florida Tournament Rules & Regulations

1.   Each team will be guaranteed four games.

2.   This is a USA Sanctioned Tournament.  All teams and players must be registered with USA Hockey or the Canadian Hockey Association (CHA). All tournament players and coaches must report to the arena at least one hour prior to the start of their games in order to “sign in”.  This requirement may be waived at the discretion of the tournament director.  A player can register on 1 roster only. Maximum of 19 players may register and dress for each game.

3.   Mercy Rule: If by or at any time during the third period one team is ahead 5 goals or more, RUNNING TIME WILL COMMENCE and will not revert back.

4.   Scoring: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss.

5.   Game Times: There will be a 2 minute warm-up prior to each game. Referee discretion to run clock, if start of       game is delayed with excessive warm-up. Overtime will be played in all playoff games as required. A five minute 4 on 4 sudden death overtime will be played. If after overtime a tie still exists we will revert to a 5 man shoot-out to determine the winner. If after the five shooters no one wins, there will be a sudden death shoot-out. No one player can shoot twice in any shoot out.

6.   No time outs allowed, except in Finals, where only one 30 second time out shall be allowed per team.

7.   No center red line applies except for icing the puck.

8.   Shall be three - 12-12-12 minute periods for all categories.

9.   U.S.A. Hockey playing rules apply for all games.  All teams please note the following rules, especially from outside USA.

10. Any player receiving any 5 penalties (major, minor, misconduct or any combination of these) in one game will sit out the following game.

11. Any team receiving 15 penalties (major, minor, misconduct or any combination of these) in one game will have their head coach sit out the following game

12.  Canadian teams are not required to wear mouth guards but they must adhere to their   neck guard rule.

13. Any game misconduct results in an automatic one game suspension regardless of when the infraction took place during the game.

14.  Tournament directors reserve the right to take measures necessary to ensure completion of the tournament.

15. The stick curvature rule does not apply.

16. The starting lineup rule is waived.

17. The ice surface will be flooded after each game.

18. All teams must complete their respective game sheets at least 15 minutes before scheduled game time to insure no sweater color conflicts.

19. Tie Breaking Procedures:

a)   Winner of two teams. In event of a three way tie, this procedure does not apply.

b)   The best plus minus goals record.

c)   Add ‘goals for’ and ‘goals against’. Divide that into ‘goals for’. Highest percentage will advance.

d)   If the above procedures do not break the tie, a coin toss will be the final tie breaking procedure.

20. Coaches and Managers are responsible to control their players and Parents to ensure that each game is    played safely, with no vulgar language or harmful infractions displayed. Team management will be responsible for any damages caused by their children to Arena facilities.
